Abstract

This study examines the role of citizenship as a social value in achieving economic development within Algerian industrial enterprises. Hypothesizing that fostering the values of professional responsibility, organizational commitment, and dedication to vocational duties enhances organizational effectiveness and improves the economic performance of the enterprise.
Based on a qualitative approach, this study carried-out semi- structured interviews with a sample of workers at the National Enterprise for detergent and Maintenance Products (E.N.A.D). The gathered data were analyzed based on thematic content analysis to reveal the nature of the prevailing values within the organization and their implications for professional relationships and organizational performance. The results revealed that an enterprise's effectiveness is not solely determined by material and technological capabilities, but is also profoundly influenced by the nature of the social values embedded within the organization. It has also become evident that organizational justice, cooperation, professional commitment, and accountability are fundamental pillars in enhancing organizational effectiveness and improving economic performance, whereas mismanagement, centralization, and weak incentives negatively affect the organizational climate and the organization’s ability to achieve its development goals.
Ultimately, this study concludes that citizenship, as a social value, represents a fundamental cornerstone of organizational effectiveness and economic development. This necessitates actively fostering a corporate culture of responsibility and belonging within Algerian industrial enterprises.
