Plagiarism and AI Use Policy

Sociological Discourse is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication, falsification, or any other form of academic misconduct. All submitted manuscripts must be original and properly acknowledge the ideas, words, data, and findings of other authors. Manuscripts may be checked using plagiarism or similarity-detection tools, and submissions found to contain significant plagiarism may be rejected or subjected to appropriate editorial action.

Authors may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools for limited purposes such as language editing, grammar correction, formatting, or improving readability. However, AI tools must not replace the authors' intellectual contribution, research analysis, or scholarly judgment. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical standards of their manuscripts.

AI systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors should disclose any substantive use of generative AI in the preparation of a manuscript where such use has contributed materially to the content. Authors are also responsible for verifying all AI-assisted information, citations, references, quotations, data, and factual claims, as AI-generated content may contain errors or fabricated references.

The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts or take appropriate corrective action where plagiarism, undisclosed inappropriate AI use, fabricated content, or other forms of academic misconduct are identified.
